Charles Robert ‘Bob’ Nelson

1942 — 2019

Bob Nelson passed away peacefully Jan. 9, 2019, after valiantly trying to dodge cancer. He was born March 5, 1942, in Seattle, Wash. He earned degrees in Latin and education, as well as minoring in sociology, from the University of Washington before moving to North Idaho in 1965.

For 32 years, Mr. Nelson taught Latin and English at Coeur d’Alene High School. His work there resulted in lifelong friendships. In his retirement, Bob continued supporting public education on the board of Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy.

Bob loved family meals, road trips, automotive repair and landscaping.

His sudden passing will be mourned by his loving wife of 53 years, Ruth E. Nelson; three children; Eric (Samantha), Bob (Elisa) and Laura (Eric); and five grandchildren: Emma, Anna, Kira, Amber and Robyn. He was also an honorary grandfather to Richard, Christopher (who preceded him in death), Jessica and David.

Bob will be lovingly remembered for his work ethic, integrity and strength. His steadfast devotion to his grandmother and other elders in his life was an inspiration.

At his request, there will be no services. Memorial donations in his honor may be made to Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy or to Schneidmiller House.

Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with final arrangements. Please visit Bob’s online memorial at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com and sign his guest book.
