| January 11, 2019 12:00 AM

RATHDRUM — Gabe Quinnett hit 8 of 11 3-pointers and scored 33 points to lead the Moscow Bears past the Lakeland Hawks 75-66 in the 4A Inland Empire League opener for both teams Thursday night at Hawk Court.

Moscow hit 14 of 27 from behind the arc.

Quinnett did not shoot a 2-pointer. He was 9 of 15 from the free-throw line.

“We thought we came out with great energy — the best energy we’ve had all year,” Lakeland assistant coach Tyrel Derrick said. “But Moscow stuck to their stuff, ran their stuff, and shot the heck out of it. They did a good job of being patient, getting to their spots, and not being flustered.”

Josiah Haaland had 18 points and 10 rebounds for Lakeland (4-7, 0-1 4A IEL), and Jalen Skalskiy added 16 points and 11 boards.
