Dennis M. O’Barr, 76

Dennis M. O’Barr, 76, of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, passed away in his home Jan. 4, 2019, after an extended illness.

He was born in Delano, Calif., to Loy and Evelyn (Waller) O’Barr and grew up in Tulare, Calif. He graduated from Tulare Union High School and joined the Air Force at age 18, where he served 20 years before retiring. He then went to work for Pacific Bell as a test desk tech and later cross-trained to fleet management, where he became a master mechanic. He retired from Pac Bell and joined fleet management for Hertz until fully retiring in 2005 and moving to Athol, Idaho, where he built his own house. He recently moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Dennis is survived by Linda O’Barr, his wife of 41 years; his children, Shelly Belota of Mansfield, Texas, Caren Pettyjohn of Hudson Creek, Texas, Shawna Moreno of Athol, Idaho, Eric Sprague of Sacramento, Calif., and Mark O’Barr of Waxahachie, Texas; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service for Dennis will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at Coeur d’Alene Church of the Nazarene, at the corner of Fourth Street and Kathleen Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, Dennis long ago requested that donations be sent to Native American Christian Academy at 8450 Sun Valley Road, Sun Valley, AZ 86029, where he spent many volunteer hours in service to God.

Bell Tower Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
