BLUE DOT: Not the moon

| January 9, 2019 12:00 AM

According to the celestial calendar available at www.timeanddate.com, the moon set on Jan. 1, 2019, in Coeur d’Alene at 1:27 p.m. PST. The beautiful picture of Lake Coeur d’Alene taken from The Resort by Michael Wisnewski was taken in the late afternoon just before or after sunset, which occurred at 4:05 p.m. Accordingly, the Blue Dot could not be the moon as suggested in the article, since the moon had set approximately 2 1/2 hours earlier in the day.
