Coeur d'Alene, Lakeland win twice in Rollie Lane tuneups

BOISE — Both Coeur d’Alene and Lakeland tuned up for the annual Rollie Lane Invitational by sweeping duals on Thursday night at Borah High.

Coeur d’Alene beat Borah 52-24 and Madison of Rexburg 55-21. Likewise, Lakeland beat Madison 66-12 and Borah 54-27.

Hunter Schueller (126 pounds), Jacob Engels (132), Nolan Randles (138), Gunner Giulio (152), Garrett Ashby (160), Nick Dohm (182) and Dylan Moffat (106) went unbeaten for Coeur d’Alene.

“I’ve been making this trip for close to 20-something years,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “I’m always pleased how the kids get off the bus and wrestle, and they did so today. They took care of business.”

Alex Edelblute (120 pounds), Sam Edelblute (126), Riley Siegford (132), Luke Hellem (138), Ryan Quimby (145), Colton Boettcher (160), Cage Hendry (152) and Sam Feusier (285) went unbeaten on the night for Lakeland.

“They wrestled well, especially after sitting on a bus for eight hours,” said Lakeland coach Rob Edelblute, whose team departed from Rathdrum at 6 a.m. on Thursday. “I was really happy with the kids. We forfeited at two weights (106 pounds and 220 pounds) and still dominated. Our guys really competed well.”

The Rollie Lane Invitational begins today at 9 a.m. PST.

Timberlake falls to

Weiser, Fruitland

FRUITLAND — Isaiah Evans (120 pounds), Josh Yanez (170), Joey Follini (182) went unbeaten for the Tigers in duals against the Wolverines and Grizzlies at Fruitland High.

“We had some kids that wrestled well,” Timberlake coach Kelly Amos said. “It’s hard to come off the bus, jump in the gym, and wrestle. But it was good to see some of those guys wrestle well. We had several matches that could come down for seeding (at state), which we did well in those and it gives us an idea of where we’re at.”

Timberlake competes in the Rollie Lane Invitational today and Saturday at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa.
