Glen ‘Pete’ McCharness, 91

Glen “Pete” McCharness, 91, passed away peacefully on Dec. 25, 2018. He and his wife, Marilyn, celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on Dec. 8, 2018.

Pete was born in Leon, Iowa, on March 10, 1927. He enlisted in the Army Airforce at age 18 and was stationed at Fort George Wright, in Spokane, Wash. He fell in love with the Pacific Northwest and would eventually move his family there permanently.

Pete held several jobs after his military service, including a soda pop salesman, a produce manager, and he retired from a successful career at Farmers Insurance in Coeur d’Alene, where he was an agent for 25 years. After retiring, Pete and Marilyn spent many years living in Scottsdale, Ariz., soaking up the sun, golfing and spending time with several friends and family members.

Pete was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an honorable, hardworking man with a great sense of humor who loved to joke and make people smile. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughters, Vicky Watson of Hayden, Idaho, Glenda Peone of Chandler, Ariz., and Melanie White of Spokane, Wash.; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
