VISITORS: Get parking 'present'
Out of town visitors went to Cd’A Resort for desserts last Saturday night. Arriving late in the evening (past 8:30 p.m.), they assumed, as is the norm in the majority of towns and cities nationwide, including Seattle where they are from, that parking is free on weekends and evenings.
It was a lump of coal in the stocking to find a $20 parking ticket on the car a little over an hour later. The parking lot in question was dark, and the notice with the specifics regarding parking regulations not easily seen.
To be certain that everyone is made aware of the rules, the city should go to gate systems which give a ticket explaining the rules. Motorists would then at least know to seek out the kiosk. People are willing to play by the rules if they know them. Catching “victims” unawares just creates negative feelings about shopping downtown.
