When life is slippery, we help each other

| December 20, 2019 12:00 AM

At 9:15 a.m. Thursday, snowing and ice, a young student went down Fourth Street on his bike. He was wearing a heavy backpack and slipped on the ice. He had trouble getting up and seemed hurt. We tried calling out to offer help but he could not hear us.

Before we could reach him, a CDA School District bus driver, with several cars behind, had seen this happen and pulled over to offer help. The boy was reluctant to leave his bike. My husband went to help and offered to keep his bike safe here and encouraged the boy to go with the driver and call his mother to let her know what happened. They convinced him to take the bus.

The bus driver did a great service and we were so impressed. He went out of his way. Thank you for helping.
