Owen, Lake City a close second to a relative at Owen invite
PABLO, Mont. — Lake City senior Caden Hess was the lone Timberwolve champion in the Owen Invitational, beating Frenchtown’s Eli Warner by pin 5:28 into the 113-pound championship match.
“Caden looked great all weekend,” Lake City coach Corey Owen said. “That kid beat him two years ago, but Caden just dominated the match and the entire tournament. He made some huge improvements over the summer. Caden took him down twice, and the improvements he’s made has made a huge difference.”

Lake City finished second with 179 points. Frenchtown, whose assistant is Corey Owen’s cousin Pat Owen, won the tournament with 186 points.
“It came down to the last match again, and if we win that, we win the tournament,” Corey Owen said. “It’s two years in a row that I’ve lost to a relative here. The kids came back and wrestled hard and really stepped up their game today.”
