TWIN FALLS — Two local products were among five North Idaho College players in double figures as the Cardinals beat Snow College 80-73 on Saturday to finish 3-0 at the Wright PT/Physician’s Immediate Care Invitational at the College of Southern Idaho.

James Carlson, a sophomore from Lake City High, hit two 3-pointers and tallied 14 points for NIC (7-0).

“He does everything,” Cardinals coach Corey Symons said. “He rebounds the ball, he’s long and athletic. He can stretch you and shoot the 3. He’s more of a stretch ‘4’; he just plays that role really well.”

Joey Naccarato, a sophomore from Coeur d’Alene High who played one season at NCAA Division I UMass-Lowell, added 13 points and 11 rebounds.

“He’s our best defender,” Symons said. “He rebounds the ball really well, really attacks the offensive glass. He’s hard to take off the floor.”

Yusuf Mohamed led NIC with 16 points, and Nate Pryor had 15 points, four assists and three steals.

Two of NIC’s wins over the weekend came over teams the Cardinals formerly faced when they were NJCAA members in the Scenic West Athletic Conference. In addition to beating Snow, NIC edged rival CSI on Thursday.

“We played well, all the way deep into our bench,” Symons said.

NIC plays host to South Puget Sound on Friday in the Cardinals’ opener in an NWAC crossover tournament at Rolly Williams Court.

Nanpuya beat Devin Crawford of Montana State-Northern by a 7-5 decision. Feliciano pinned Zach Myers from Dickinson State in 1:33.

“Both Navarro and Cohle had big days for us on Friday and came up big for us,” NIC coach Mike Sebaaly said. “Navarro is so tough on top and scrambles really well, and just kept wrestling hard all weekend. Cohle wrestled hard and smart, and scored points when he needed to.”
