ART: Now here's an artist
After all the controversy surrounding Marker 11 in Riverstone Park, a box-like structure created by an elusive out-of-state artist with a vague message about coal in four languages, it was refreshing to open Friday’s paper and read an article about an actual North Idaho artist. Jeff May’s story of overcoming adversity and continuing to turn out quality artwork is inspiring. His message of “Sculptures are in their best way symbolic of people, places, and relationships” is compelling.
Congratulations Jeff May on your new studio and continued success as an artist. Maybe your works will inspire the Coeur d’Alene Arts Commission to look a little closer to home when making future selections.
On a side note: it was nice to find a real Section D, instead of something pasted to the back of Section C with the pages going backward, in Thursday’s Press.
