PARKING: The beat goes on

| August 4, 2019 1:00 AM

Mr. Boe, that was an interesting column last week. It was short on answers and read like a campaign speech, but it was amusing. Most amusing was before I had actually read it. Out for breakfast and shopping with my daughter and grandson, two ladies approached us to express what they thought of you and your column. They didn’t appear to be fans of yours.

You still didn’t answer my questions and if, as you claim, Facebook pulled them you still got them the second time. There’s nothing insulting or condemning in asking a couple questions of you. As someone who’s a Coeur d’Alene Lifer and has been very involved with and protective of my hometown, I was curious who you were.

Your Facebook page is “moderated, wholesome and clean” with the motto “Do Good - Be Nice - Have Fun” where people share photos, jokes, recipes and information. Why did you take it political? You accused the city of Coeur d’Alene of somehow cheating the public. Was that good, nice and fun?

You turned your opinion into a cause. Over a beer a friend referred to it as “clickbait.” And now claim you’re doing it all for those “that have lived here all their lives.” You mean people like me? Speaking only for myself and my family, we don’t need some newbie Cornhusker speaking on our behalf.

Since you, and I’d bet most of your Council flash mob, don’t reside in Coeur d’Alene, I don’t see how much weight you carry. Are you expecting me, a Coeur d’Alene resident and taxpayer, to pay for your parking? Do you think you’re entitled to it?

This is where the original questions came from. Do you know what it takes to plan, build and maintain a city’s infrastructure? All you see is it’s going to cost you to park. This place is exploding, and downtown parking has been a topic for decades. In what city downtown do you not have to pay to park?

Welcome to Coeur d’Alene. And Downtown Coeur d’Alene is worth every bit of it.
