Carolyn B. Nyberg

Carolyn passed away surrounded by her family on April 13, 2019, at the age of 91 in Hayden, Idaho. Carolyn was born on Oct. 5, 1927, in Eau Claire, Wis., to Georgianna and Clarence “Lars” Larson. Carolyn was married to Glenn Nyberg on Aug. 13, 1949, in Algonquin, Ill. Together they raised their two children, Christopher and Jeannette, in Oregon.

Carolyn loved being outdoors and on the water — whether sailing on one of her beloved sailboats or canoeing on the lake near the family cabin, which she built in 1977 in British Columbia. She always wore a smile when she could be outside. Carolyn and Glenn loved flying, as Glenn was an avid pilot, and together they flew their plane all over the west. Carolyn worked in the H.R. sector of the health care industry and was an active volunteer.

Carolyn and Glenn traveled the Mid-east, Europe, Scandinavia and Asia. They settled in Hayden in 2003 and enjoyed many years of biking, sailing and hiking all over the region. Carolyn was an accomplished knitter, spinner and weaver. She spun her own wool from fiber gathered in her travels across the globe. She loved teaching people to knit and spin; most recently, she taught her great-grandchildren to spin. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Carolyn is survived by her son, Christopher Glenn (Jackie) Nyberg; daughter, Jeanette Nyberg; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A special thank you to North Idaho Hospice for their outstanding end-of-life care and Pastor Steve Massey of the Hayden Bible Church. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Bird Aviation Museum and Invention Center.
