Joanne Irene (Lavendure) Tibesar

Joanne (Joan) passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House on Prairie Avenue in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, with family by her side. Joan lived in Dayton, Wash., for the last 30 years. She raised her children in Rathdrum, Idaho, and most of the family is in the North Idaho area. Joan was born in Belcourt, N.D., on the Chippewa Indian Reservation.

Joan graduated floral design school in 1976 and eventually opened two flower shops in North Idaho. Joan enjoyed working with flowers as a florist and also for fun. She would always bring flowers to people who were getting married, were sick in the hospital, anniversary parties, truly to most any event.

Generous and kind was her heart. She volunteered in Dayton at the Saint Vincent de Paul thrift store and at her local catholic church (St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dayton). She was also a member of the Lady’s Alter Society for the Church of St. Stanislaus in Rathdrum.

Joan was the person of the extended family from North Dakota who kept in contact with everyone and updated them on the happenings of her family here in Idaho. She felt strongly about keeping in touch with where she came from and she was very proud of her Native American heritage and wanted to pass that on to her family.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Huss of Dayton; her parents, Emil Lavendure of North Dakota and Marie Hunter of Hayden, Idaho; brother Donald (Duck) Lavendure of Spokane, Wash.; and son Joseph Freer.

She is survived by her children, Ron Freer of Mullan, Robert Freer of Dayton, David Hoffer of Hayden, Christopher (Liberty) Hoffer of Post Falls and Lauri (Stone) Edwards of Bonners Ferry; brother Robert (Marie) Lavendure of Hauser; sister Donna Marie Cropper of Post Falls; grandchildren, Ben (Jada) Freer of Kettle Falls, Brandy Freer of Kellogg, Joseph Hoffer of Cataldo and Ashley (Tyler) Sanders of Athol; great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Mom, Grandma, Granny, Sister, Friend, you are loved and will be missed by all.

All are invited to attend the Mass for Joan to be held at noon Saturday, May 4, 2019, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 919 E. Indiana Ave., Coeur d’Alene.
