Alice D. Parker, 79

Alice D. Parker, born June 14, 1939, to Florence and Roy Koester, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, April 20, 2019. While her family mourns their loss greatly, they are at peace knowing she has joined her beloved husband eternal, Melvin R. Parker, Sr.

Alice leaves behind two daughters she loved dearly: Ann Wylie and Teresa Parker; and three sons who she took great pride in their military service: Eugene Parker, Paul Parker and Melvin Parker Jr. Alice, whose heart always had room for more, embraced Keith Wylie, Jessica Parker, Tiffany Parker, Lindsey Parker and Lania Schelin-Parker, along with 31 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Preceding her passing was Rudy Smith; her brother, Bill and sister, Lucille; leaving behind brothers and sisters: Lenora, Doris, Martin, Roy, Earl, Bruce and Kathy; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

You often hear people say of others that they had a heart of gold or would welcome anyone into their home. Alice and her husband, Mel truly were “those” people. Many a childhood friend had a pillow to lay their head or a warm meal for their belly because of their large hearts. One of Alice’s greatest joys was to be able to give her grandchildren and great-grandchildren $5 at Christmas. It might seem small to some, but the joy it gave her was immeasurable.

During Alice’s last few weeks of life, her family came together as only the “Parkers” know how. Alice was never alone, up until her final breath. Old memories were remembered, new memories created. There were times of tears and times of joy, Midnight Milk Shakes and Milky Way runs.
