| April 24, 2019 12:14 PM

It was a close call, but Coeur d'Alene's Jacob Maxwell keeps moving forward on NBC's “The Voice!”

Earlier this week on the popular television singing competition, Maxwell, who is on John Legend's team, performed in the show's Cross Battles, going head-to-head with an artist from another team. The Cross Battle winner is the one who wins the most votes from viewers.

Maxwell performed Shania Twain's “You're Still the One.”

The contestant Maxwell was up against won the most viewers' votes, but Maxwell's run didn't end there thanks to his coach John Legend. Each celebrity coach is given the chance to save one artist on their team who doesn't win the public vote. Legend used his one save to keep Maxwell in the game.

Maxwell now moves on to the Top 24 performances, which will air Monday, April 29, at 8 p.m.
