SPOKANE VALLEY — Chris Swider covered a lot of ground for his first singles match for the Viking boys this spring.

Swider, who has played mixed doubles this season his sister — Sarah — beat Carsten Blegen of University in straight sets, 6-0 and 7-5.

“Chris was outstanding,” Coeur d’Alene boys coach Dan O’Connor said. “He was all over the court and getting to balls nobody else could get. He was tough in that first set, and then really grinded out the second for the win.”

The teams split boys singles 2-2.

“(Coeur d’Alene No. 1) Bayley (Throm), although he lost, played really well,” O’Connor said. “He handled himself really well the entire match and played well. It was a good match for us overall. We battled, but just couldn’t quite pull it out.”

Coeur d’Alene is scheduled to host Sandpoint today at 3 p.m.
