NIC women golfers lead after Day 1 at Walla Walla Invitational

WALLA WALLA, Wash. — Led by Mackenzie Robins’ first-place round of 81, the North Idaho College women’s golf team leads the nine-team Walla Walla Invitational after Monday’s first round at Veterans Memorial Golf Club.

Robins is in a three-way tie for first, with the second and final round of the tournament scheduled today. Cardinal teammate Kaylie Hayes is one shot behind the leaders with an 82. NIC’s team total is 246 (only the top three individual scores are counted), giving the Cardinals a seven-stroke lead over Spokane.

In men’s play, NIC trails Spokane by nine strokes, with the Sasquatch shooting an 8-under-par 280. Lincoln Hirrlinger leads the Cardinals, with his first-round 70 good for fourth place.

The tournament concludes today in Walla Walla.
