Cardinals get a split with Walla Walla

WALLA WALLA, Wash. — Jori Kerr homered in the first inning and Bailey Cavanagh hit a grand slam in the fifth inning for North Idaho College in a 13-5 win over Walla Walla in the first game of a Northwest Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday.

Ashlyn Winn and Taylor Anderson also homered, Grace Shimatsu went 3 for 3 with an RBI in the opener for NIC (16-8, 14-4 NWAC).

In the nightcap, Brianna Hecker hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning for the Cardinals, who fell to the Warriors 7-4 to split the twinbill. Walla Walla is 15-11, 10-8.

NIC faces Clackamas and Southwestern Oregon on Friday in Oregon City, Ore.
