MATT’S PLACE: Assisting families battling ALS

On March 9, Matt’s Place Foundation hosted its fourth annual pub crawl raising more than $33,000 to assist families with ALS. Matt is a retired U.S. Marine and Coeur d’Alene native who was diagnosed with ALS in February 2015. While the financial impact of this disease for Matt was greatly lessened by the medical benefits provided by the VA, he was alarmed to realize the terrible financial toll this disease can have on patients and their families. No money from this event goes to Matt.

The event started and ended at The Coeur d’Alene Resort Plaza Shops with roughly 1,000 people supporting the cause. Thank you to the 15 pubs who participated including the Beacon, Collective Kitchen/The Filling Station, the Coeur d’Alene Eagles, Coeur d’Alene Fresh, Crafted Taphouse and Kitchen, Crickets, Doghouse, Fine Brewed, Iron Horse, MoMo, the Moose, Seasons of Coeur d’Alene, Sweet Lou’s, Taphouse Unchained and 2nd Street Cantina. The event sponsor was Coeur d’Alene Paving/Redi-Mix and Precast, along with the Coeur d’Alene Eagles, Kootenai Title, Prianos and Northern Idaho Advanced Care Hospital as major sponsors. Thank you to all the sponsors along with more than 100 businesses and individuals who gave generously. This event was possible due to more than 40 volunteers. The money raised will help with ramps and remodels for patients in our area.

On behalf of the Matt’s Place Pub Crawl Committee and Volunteers, The Matt’s Place Board, Matt and Theresa Wild, and the patients who will benefit from the money raised, THANK YOU to all who came.
