Sandra Jean Shaw

Sandra Jean Shaw, most recently of Hayden, Idaho, went home to be with the Lord on April 4, 2019, while at Schneidmiller Hospice House of North Idaho, in Coeur d’Alene.

Sandra was born in Corvallis, Ore., on July 5, 1961, to George R. and Norma J. (Snodgrass) Shaw. Sandra is survived by her two siblings: Kathy Dyer of Spokane, Wash., and Donald Shaw of Eagle, Idaho. She is also survived by her son, Jeremy Roberts, who resided with her in Hayden. She enjoyed 11 nieces and nephews as well.

Sandra grew up in Vancouver, Wash., where she attended various schools in the area, including Evergreen High School. After high school, she attended and graduated from beauty school and enjoyed a career in cosmetology. She most recently worked for Raycap Incorporated, where she loved her job, the people and her work environment. She often referred to them as family.

Sandra possessed a strong work ethic early on, as she, along with her mother and siblings, made their way out to the fields to pick strawberries, cucumbers and whatever else was in season. She also enjoyed all kinds of craft projects, which often turned into gifts for birthdays and special occasions. More often than not, gifts were homemade labors of love. She picked up crocheting from our mom and seemed always involved in a new blanket for someone.

She may have resided in Hayden, but her real home was the beach. Where didn’t make a difference, as long as there was sand and ocean. If there was rain, fog or sunshine, it did not matter. Sandra was a quiet woman (until she got to know you) who didn’t mind her alone-time, as long as she had her beloved pets close by; Dante being her last. Friends described her as trustworthy, accepting and deeply loyal. She was confident in who she was, so much so, that her lived-in house didn’t get in the way of enjoying life’s little moments, especially when friends and family came around. She was a fun-loving aunt who greatly enjoyed her nieces and nephews.

Our beloved Sandra, taken far too soon, will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

The family asks that memorials and donations be made to the Schneidmiller House, 2290 W. Prairie Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID, 83815. There are no plans for a funeral at this time, however, a memorial celebration is in the works for the Oregon Coast later this summer.

Yates Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements. Please visit Sandra’s memorial and sign her online guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
