Cardinal men fourth at spring-opening tourney

SALEM, Ore. — Jesse Henderson paced the North Idaho College men’s golf team with a three-round total of 211, helping the Cardinals finish tied for fourth at the Corban Spring Invitational on Tuesday at Creekside Golf Club.

NIC finished with a 288-293-292—873 for the tournament, which featured a host of NAIA schools.

British Columbia won the men’s team title with an 273-275-284—832.

Ethan DeGraff of British Columbia and Mayson Tibbs of Oregon Tech tied for medalist honors with a 206.

NIC’s women finished seventh with an 370-359—729, led by Jessey Simons with an 87-88—175.

Sammi Dement, a freshman from Lake City High, shot a 92-85—177 for College of Idaho.

British Columbia also won the women’s team title with a 591.

Esther Lee of British Columbia was women’s medalist with a 142.

NIC competes at a Northwest Athletic Conference match next Monday and Tuesday at Veterans Memorial Golf Course in Walla Walla.
