Donald Dixon Unruh, 87

Donald Dixon Unruh, age 87, was born April 15, 1931, to Ernest and Pansy (Dixon) Unruh, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

He grew up in Coeur d’Alene, attending Roosevelt Grade School and graduating from Coeur d’Alene Senior High School in 1949.

He married Dwyla Feely of Rathdrum, Idaho, in August of 1950. He served in the United States Air Force until late 1952, when they moved back to Coeur d’Alene.

Donald attended Barber College in Spokane, Wash. He then worked his way through Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill., graduating in 1963. After attending Moody, Donald pastored at churches in several locations. In 1970 he became the first full-time missionary director of North Idaho Child Evangelism Fellowship, serving for over 30 years. He retired in 1994 to become a caregiver to his spouse.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Unruh and his mother, Pansy Unruh in Coeur d’Alene, his son, Arlen Unruh in Edgerton Wyo.; his sister, Francis Ufford in Lubbock, Texas, and his spouse, Dwyla Unruh in Coeur d’Alene. He is survived by two brothers: Ernest (Gene) Unruh of Richland, Wash., and Robert Unruh of Coeur d’Alene; by his son Dion (Joan) Unruh and daughter, Faith Unruh both of Coeur d’Alene; as well as two granddaughters and numerous great-grandchildren.

Visitation hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 15, at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene, with Military Rites and burial at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
