Cd'A Police Department warns of scam calls

| April 7, 2019 1:00 AM

Over the past several days, the Coeur d’Alene Police Department has received several reports about someone calling community members claiming to be a captain with the department, according to a Saturday press release.

The suspect informs the potential victim they have a warrant for their arrest and asks for updated personal information.

These types of scams are common and often include the suspect asking for money in various forms, including through gift cards or money orders, to satisfy the warrant.

The Coeur d’Alene Police Department reminds community members that its officers will never call community members asking for money to satisfy any type of legal process.

Additionally, the department will only collect limited personal information for investigative purposes.

If anyone receives a call that seems suspicious, hang up and contact the Coeur d’Alene Police Department directly at 208-769-2320.
