Trojans finish 12th at 30-team tourney

KENT, Wash. — Post Falls finished second in the Bronze Bracket, 12th overall out of 30 teams Saturday at Kentwood High.

In pool play, the Trojans beat Snohomish 25-20, 27-25 and Curtis 25-19, 25-15.

In another pool, Post Falls split with Jackson 26-24, 19-25 and lost to Kennedy 25-18, 25-21.

In Bronze Bracket play, the Trojans beat Columbia River 19-25, 25-21, 15-9, then lost to Ferndale in the championship match 24-26, 25-19, 15-11.

Tessa Sarff had 56 kills and 11 blocks on the day for Post Falls (9-7). Kayla Mayo had 27 kills and 81 assists, Courtney Finney 100 assists and 14 aces, May Blake 13 aces, Riley Hartwig 13 blocks, Megan Wood 10 blocks, Ali Carpenter 96 digs.

“Kayla Mayo had a really good tournament, with her setting and her kills; she really played her heart out,” Post Falls coach Matt Barkley said. “I thought we played really well, especially in pool play. We saw a lot of tough teams that really tested us.”

Post Falls plays host to Mead on Monday.

Reardan

REARDAN, Wash. — Daphne Carroll had 13 kills and six aces as the visiting Hawks swept the Indians 25-12, 25-17, 25-19 in nonleague play.

Katy Ryan added eight kills for Lakeland (13-6). Abbey Neff had 21 assists, Sarah Pope seven blocks, Jenny Wirtz three blocks, Olivia Cooper 12 digs, Summer Powell 10 digs.

Lakeland travels to Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday.

Grangeville

ST. MARIES — Dakotah Wilks totaled 17 assists and four aces as the host Lumberjacks beat the Bulldogs 25-10, 25-19, 25-21 to move into first place in the Central Idaho League.

Kaci Haeg had nine kills and 12 digs for St. Maries (10-8, 2-1 CIL). Elizabeth Ragan had 12 digs, Kirsten Miller two blocks.

St. Maries travels to Kellogg on Tuesday.

Genesis Prep

POST FALLS — Brooke Stevens had 24 assists and five kills for the North Star League-leading Wampus Cats, who beat the Jaguars 25-15, 25-11, 25-10 in North Star League play at Post Falls Middle School.

Hailey Bristol added 11 kills and five digs for Clark Fork (9-4, 5-0 NSL). Tessa Sutton had eight kills, four aces and six digs, and Ellie Lambert and Abbie Anderson each had six digs.

“We did a really good job of taking their middle hitter out of her game today,” Clark Fork coach Cindy Derr said. “Our tip coverage was good today.”

Josie Scribner had three kills and seven digs for Genesis Prep (3-3, 2-2). Trinity Morrow had four digs, Emily Martinez six assists and two aces, Rachel Schroeder three digs.

“Clark Fork has a very fast and strong offense and our defense just couldn’t keep up today,” Genesis Prep coach Paula Thurston said.

Genesis Prep travels to Mullan on Tuesday.

Lakeside

COEUR d’ALENE — Alyssa SiJohn had 36 assists and four aces for the Knights in a 25-20, 12-25, 25-17, 15-25, 15-6 nonleague loss to the Royals at Holy Family Catholic School.

“North Idaho Christian played a lot more consistent than we did,” Lakeside coach Brad Veile said. “We had spurts of good play, and other times where we didn’t put things together.”

Tenley Lambert had nine kills and Glory Olson eight kills and one block for Lakeside (3-5), which travels to Wallace on Tuesday.

North Idaho Christian (3-5) faces Upper Columbia Academy on Thursday in Spangle, Wash.
