SANDPOINT — Maddy Lasher had two goals and an assist to lead the Lake City Timberwolves past the Sandpoint Bulldogs 5-3 in a nonleague match under the lights at Memorial Field on Thursday.

“I’m very happy,” Lake City coach Matt Ruchti said. “We tried a different shape, with different players in different spots, and got to see some young players against a really good team. We came out, worked hard, and had a good showing.”

Lake City (8-2) hosts Lewiston in a 5A Inland Empire League match on Saturday.

Riley Walkington, an Eastern Washington commit, scored two goals for Sandpoint.

“We lost the mental battle tonight,” Sandpoint coach Conor Baranski said. “Lake City is good, well coached, and they were clearly more confident. On a positive note, we scored the first goal and the last two, we just missed that middle 60 minutes.”

Jordan Roth had two goals and an assist for Coeur d’Alene (5-4), which plays host to Post Falls on Saturday at noon.

Lakeland (1-6-1) plays host to Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy on Tuesday.

COEUR d’ALENE — Sarah Hines’ penalty kick in the 20th minute turned out to be the game’s only goal as the Panthers beat the Tigers in an Intermountain League match at Eisenwinter Field on the campus of North Idaho College.

Coeur d’Alene Charter outshot Timberlake 27-1.

“Sometimes you play games where all you can do is hang on and survive,” Coeur d’Alene coach Stacy Smith said. “This was one of those games for us. Our passing was off, leadership on the field was off, and we couldn’t seem to find the back of the net. Although we controlled most of what happened on the field, Timberlake put some good pressure on our offense, demanding them to be perfect, and we just were not tonight. That being said, we still came out on top, so we’ll take it.”

Coeur d’Alene Charter (10-0, 8-0 IML) travels to Kellogg on Saturday.

Karissa Willis had 19 saves for Timberlake (5-3-1, 5-2-1 IML), which travels to Bonners Ferry on Tuesday.

First half — 1, Charter, Sarah Hines (penalty kick), 20:00. Second half — none.

Sandpoint 1

COEUR d’ALENE — Jacob Janzen scored on an assist from Greyden Lee in the 70th minute to push the Timberwolves past the Bulldogs under the lights at the Lake City High football field.

“I felt we had a larger portion of the possession in the first half, but we weren’t able to convert on several opportunities,” Lake City coach Alan Rich said. “Kudos to Sandpoint, they are well coached and are always prepared and they scored the only goal of the first half. We were playing well and finally converted on a couple of chances in the second half.”

Ty Shaw scored on an assist from Spencer Messina in the 64th minute for Lake City (8-0), which travels to Lewiston on Saturday at noon.

Zander Moore scored on an assist from Chris Koch in the 36th minute for Sandpoint (4-4), which travels to Lakeland next Thursday.

POST FALLS — Mckie Gregory had an assist and the eventual game-winning goal in the 20th minute for the Trojans in a nonleague win over the Dragons of Spokane at Post Falls High.

St. George’s opened the scoring in the seventh minute, then kept things close behind goalkeeper Ethan Johnson, who finished with 12 saves on the Trojans’ 22 shots on goal.

“We definitely battled back, but their keeper was a nuisance,” Post Falls coach Gabe Lawson said. “He made a lot of quality saves and we could have scored more goals if not for him in net. He just had one of those days where he was making saves. Hats off to him, he did great.”

Caleb Calkins scored in the 10th minute to even the score for Post Falls (3-6), which hosts Coeur d’Alene in a 5A Inland Empire League match on Saturday at noon.

First half — 1, SG, John DeForest (Noah Gallow), 7:00. 2, PF, Caleb Calkins (Mckie Gregory), 10:00. 3, PF, Gregory (Cadin Perry), 20:00. Second half — none.

ST. MARIES — Bradley Munson stopped two shots on goal for the 4A Hawks, as did Ben Bailey for the 3A Lumberjacks in a scoreless draw at City Park.

“It was a good game,” St. Maries coach Chris Renaldo said. “We dominated the possession, but didn’t have good opportunities. We just couldn’t get any shots off. It was a good match for the boys to play in and a real even match.”

Next Thursday, Lakeland (0-10-1) hosts Sandpoint and St. Maries (6-4-1) travels to Orofino.

First half — none. Second half — none.

Shots on goal — LL 3, SM 3.
