MEDICINE: Idaho school applauded

| September 19, 2018 1:00 AM

WWAMI-Idaho, Idaho’s medical school, continues to graduate top-notch physicians who bring quality health care to some of our most underserved communities, and I’m proud to support it as a longstanding family medicine physician in Coeur d’Alene.

Through a partnership between University of Idaho and the top-ranked University of Washington School of Medicine, WWAMI allows Idaho medical students to pay in-state tuition and do all of their training here at home, where many hope to return to practice. Something we in Idaho need.

Health care is an increasingly important economic driver in our state, and WWAMI-Idaho plays a major role in that. For every public dollar invested in WWAMI in Idaho, $5.10 returns to the state’s health care economy. Idaho WWAMI assures our state will have excellent doctors who are committed to delivering the highest quality care in local communities like mine, and I’m thankful for the public support of and work by Idaho WWAMI.
