Lee lifts Lake City past Vikings

COEUR d’ALENE — Greyden Lee scored a pair of second-half goals to extend a Lake City lead in a 5-4 win over visiting Coeur d’Alene in a 5A Inland Empire League match at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex on Saturday.

“It was a crazy game,” Coeur d’Alene coach Braden Ridgewell said. “It’s two rival schools, and both teams came out on fire. Lake City played really well. We came out a little flat, but started to play better after the first five minutes.”

Lake City (6-0, 2-0 5A IEL) travels to Post Falls on Tuesday.

Coeur d’Alene (4-2, 1-1) hosts Lewiston on Tuesday.

LEWISTON — Caleb Calkins scored on an assist from Cadin Perry in the 17th minute to tie the match for the Trojans, but the Bengals went on to win the 5A Inland Empire League match at Walker Field.

“In the first half, we dominated the possession and outshot them for the game,” Post Falls coach Gabe Lawson said. “We just missed some chances off the post on goals we normally score. Lewiston was able to convert on their chances, and we’ve got to do a better job on our chances.”

Post Falls (2-5, 0-2 5A IEL) hosts Lake City on Tuesday.

Lewiston is 1-1 in league.

ST. MARIES — Preston Blood scored on an assist from Matt Masterson in the 26th minute for the Lumberjacks in an Intermountain League win over the Bulldogs at City Park.

“The boys played really well,” said St. Maries girls coach Kenny Osier, who coached the boys team in the absense of Chris Renaldo, who was out of town. “(Boys assistant coach) Tyler Martin did a great job today and got a lot of players on the field.”

Toby Young and Trysten Lockridge scored goals in the second half for St. Maries (5-4, 5-2 IML), which hosts Priest River on Tuesday.

SPIRIT LAKE — Senior striker Kobe Harris scored a hat trick, the first two goals coming on headers from corner kicks by Denton Meijerink, as the host Tigers shut out the Spartans in Intermountain League play at Van Tuinstra Memorial Field.

“Some people call ’em strikers, I call ’em finishers,” Timberlake coach Steve Michael said. “He (Harris) doesn’t waste too many opportunies; he’s going to make plays.”

Ron Rojas, who has seen action in goal for Timberlake in past seasons, played in goal for the first time this season on Saturday and posted the shutout. Sheldon Kistler, the usual starting goalkeeper, played in the field on Saturday and recorded a goal and an assist.

Timberlake (4-2, 3-2 IML) plays host to Lakeland on Tuesday.
