RATHDRUM — Kaylee Moate scored in the 81st minute, her second goal of the match, to lift the Post Falls Trojans past the Lakeland Hawks 2-1 in a nonleague match at Sunrise Rotary Field on Thursday.

“Tonight’s game was a much-needed win,” Post Falls coach Steve Mills said. “We have been — and still are — such an incredibly injured team that we have looking for any positives we can find. Kaylee, Morgan (Rust) and Alyssa (Smith) were rock solid for us all game long. I told those three girls at the beginning of the match that I was putting a lot on their shoulders. They really stepped up.”

Post Falls has nine starters out of the lineup with injuries.

“I am so incredibly impressed with the job all of the JV players have done for us,” Mills said. “Every single one of them played the best I’ve ever seen them play. I’m very proud of these young ladies.”

“This was definitely the fastest team we’ve played all season,” Charter coach Stacy Smith said. “We were challenged in the middle field and on the back line throughout the entire game. However, we were able to capitalize on some great one-on-ones, excellent passing and a few set pieces. Although the score may not reflect it, this was a great matchup for us.”
