James Muse, 62

James “Jim” Muse, 62, born Jan. 19, 1956; died on July 28, 2018, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho from cancer.

Jim attended school and college in California and served as a Marine in the military. He also was an amazing coach at basketball and softball for many years in California and Coeur d’Alene. He also participated in junior achievement programs in Coeur d’Alene elementary schools.

Jim loved life and embraced every minute with his family. Jim and his wife, Debbie were each other’s first loves and were finally able to reunite in 2014 and married April 1, 2017. He had several hobbies; he loved music (all kinds). He played guitar, keyboard and harmonica. Jim enjoyed writing music, lyrics, songs, stories, plays and poetry. He liked fishing, hiking, nature, history, walking along rivers and was a pro at any type of trivia. He loved tie-dye, was witty, loving and was a very passionate person. Jim was also a founding member of the “Clown Squad,” a group of volunteers certified by Ringling Bros./Barnum and Bailey Circus. Jim wanted to give back because of the compassion he was given when his wife, Carlotta Muse, died from cancer in 1997.

Jim is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Muse and father, George Muse, both of California; sister, Sharon Lawrence of California, and brother, Bill Muse of California.

Jim is survived by his wife, Debra Muse of Coeur d’Alene; children, Angela Muse of Texas, Brandon Muse of Coeur d’Alene and Summer Muse of Coeur d’Alene; Joseph and Mickey Murphy (“Mom and Dad”) of Montana; brothers, Dennis (Lorraine) Muse of California and Doug Muse of Coeur d’Alene; and sister, Denise Cope of Arizona.

A memorial service for Jim will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, at the Church of the Nazarene, 4000 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815.
