COEUR d’ALENE — Charter Communications has announced the full market launch of Spectrum Mobile for new and existing Spectrum Internet subscribers in North Idaho.

"This product has been launched across almost our entire national footprint this week," said Bret Picciolo, a Charter Communications spokesman. "Customers in North Idaho are receiving this product at the same time as the vast majority of our customers across the country."

The company completed a soft launch of the service at the end of June.

Picciolo said Spectrum Mobile works by combining Verizon’s LTE cellular network with Spectrum’s nationwide network of WiFi hotspots.

"Wherever possible, customer devices will connect to Spectrum WiFi hotspots both inside and outside the home," he said. "In areas where Spectrum WiFi is unavailable, coverage is provided by Verizon."

The price for unlimited data is $45 per month per line.

Picciolo touted the cellular network, mobile devices and cost as providing an exceptional overall package to subscribers.

"Spectrum Mobile was designed to provide customers the highest quality experience and save them money," he said. "Spectrum Mobile is a smarter network, designed for the way mobile devices are used today, and the way they will be used tomorrow."

Samsung, Apple and LG are among the mobile devices offered with the plans.

"Spectrum Mobile brings unprecedented flexibility and value to the wireless marketplace," said Danny Bowman, chief mobile officer for Charter. "Spectrum Mobile gives customers the freedom to use their favorite devices the way they want … ."

The "by the gig" cost for the service is $14 per gigabyte shared across all lines.

Other features include the flexibility to change rate plans any time at no additional cost and mobile devices with interest-free monthly installment plans.

Charter plans to expand its device options and offer customers the ability to implement their own devices later this year. Spectrum Internet subscribers can sign up online or by calling (855) 251-3375.
