Sandpoint 2nd at Lakeland tourney

RATHDRUM — Sandpoint pushed Lewiston to a deciding set before falling in three sets in the championship match of the Lakeland Invitational on Saturday.

In the semifinals, Lewiston defeated Coeur d’Alene and Sandpoint beat Lakeland.

Coeur d’Alene went 3-0 in pool play, beating Priest River 25-10, 27-25, Post Falls JV 25-15, 25-17 and Kellogg 25-12, 25-13. In Gold Bracket play, the Vikings beat Clark Fork 25-10, 25-12 before losing to Lewiston 25-27, 27-27, 15-11.

Kelly Horning had 29 kills, 18 digs and four blocks on the day for Coeur d’Alene (8-3). Taylin Rowley had 17 kills, 36 assists, 17 digs and nine aces, Lauren Phillips 17 kills, 46 assists, 20 digs and eight aces, Kate Phillips 17 kills, Eden Kim 16 digs, Olivia Haakenson six aces, Katelyn Kinson three blocks.

Lakeland went 3-0 in pool play, beating St. Maries 25-13, 25-23, the Lake City JV 25-13, 25-13 and Bonners Ferry 25-13, 25-11.

In Gold Bracket play, Lakeland beat Ferris 25-12, 21-25, 15-11 before losing in the semis to Sandpoint 26-24, 25-22.

St. Maries went 2-1 in pool play, losing to Lakeland 25-13, 25-22, beating Bonners Ferry 22-25, 25-15, 16-14 and beating the Lake City JV 15-18, 25-15. The Lumberjacks advanced to the Gold Bracket, where they dropped their first match to Lewiston 26-24, 25-14.

Dakotah Wilks had 46 assists on the day for St. Maries (7-7). Elizabeth Ragan had nine kills, Wilks five aces against Bonners Ferry. Madison Cordell had nine digs vs. the Lake City JV, five kills vs. Lewiston.

On Tuesday, Coeur d’Alene plays host to Lake City, Lakeland visits Reardan, and St. Maries travels to Priest River.

Timberlake 3-3

at Freeman tourney

FREEMAN, Wash. — McKeeley Tonkin had 12 kills, 42 assists and 16 aces for the Tigers, who won three out of six matches at the Freeman Rip-a-Shot tournament.

Timberlake beat Warden 25-15, 25-14, lost to East Valley 25-21, 25-17, lost to Freeman 25-21, 25-16, lost to Newport 26-24, 25-23, beat Chewelah 25-13, 25-20 and beat Riverside 25-13, 25-20.

Kenzie Dean had 13 kills, 11 digs and two aces for Timberlake (9-4). Kylie Marneris had 14 digs, Taylor Suko 16 kills and four aces, Becca Malloy nine aces and six digs, Brooke Jessen 15 kills and five blocks, Abbie Joyce eight digs and six aces, Kyndal Lindley 12 kills and six aces.

Timberlake opens Intermountain League play Tuesday vs. Coeur d’Alene Charter at Holy Family Catholic School.
