Timberlake rallies past Moscow in OT

MOSCOW — Quarterback Joey Follini’s 4-yard run in overtime capped a Timberlake comeback and lifted the 3A Tigers past the 4A Bears 42-36 in nonleague play Friday night.

Follini ran for two touchdowns for Timberlake (2-1), which won just one game last year. He completed four passes, three for touchdowns.

Louis Powell rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries for the Tigers, who trailed Moscow (0-3) 21-0 after the first quarter.

Timberlake plays host to Rogers of Spokane next Friday.

DEER PARK, Wash. — Kaden Hammond hit Koy Sands for a 15-yard touchdown to put visiting St. Maries on top in the second quarter, but it was all Stags after that in the nonleague game.

Deer Park (2-0) outgained St. Maries (2-1) 286-184. Hammond completed 9 of 20 passes for 108 yards, with one interception. Lucas Keller passed for 171 yards for Deer Park.

St. Maries travels to Priest River next Friday.

CLARK FORK — Sophomore quarterback Cameron Garcia had a breakout game, leading the Wampus Cats to another decisive North Star League win, downing the Knights.

Garcia finished with 263 yards rushing and 31 yards passing, and even forced a fumble on defense, leading the Cats (2-1, 2-0 NSL) with touchdown runs of 72, 45 and 35 yards, using his speed to do damage in space. He also threw a pair of touchdowns to senior running back Theo Icardo.

Clark Fork can wrap up the league title and a state 1A Division II playoff berth next Friday when Mullan-St. Regis visits.

Running back Devin Arroyo plunged in from 3 yards out for the Knights (0-3, 0-2 NSL), who had trouble moving the ball against the Cats. Lakeside is scheduled to host Timberline of Weippe next Friday.

Cd’A Charter d. Genesis Prep

COEUR d’ALENE — The Panthers won their second straight match in as many nights, topping the visiting Jaguars 25-16, 25-11, 23-25, 25-8 at Holy Family Catholic School.

Megan MacKinney led Charter (5-1) with 16 kills and six aces, while teammates Rylee Peterson and Maddie Koceila had six kills each. Koceila added six aces for the Panthers, who host Timberlake on Tuesday.

Josie Scribner had nine kills and seven blocks for Genesis Prep in its opening match of the season. Rachel Schroeder added four kills for the Jaguars, who travel to Lakeside on Tuesday.

COEUR d’ALENE — Chloe Teets, Lily Tweedy and Madi Lasher scored goals for the Timberwolves in a nonleague win over the Tigers at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex.

“It was a good response coming off the match with Gonzaga Prep (a 2-1 loss on Tuesday), and I thought we played well in the second half against this team,” Lake City coach Matt Ruchti said. “We wanted to make sure we came out and started strong, and we responded well.”

Lake City (4-1) opens 5A Inland Empire League play at Lewiston on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
