Schnepf sparks Cardinal women to win

COEUR d’ALENE — Lakeland High product Sofi Schnepf scored two second half goals to push North Idaho College past the Treasure Valley Chukars 4-1 in the East Region opener for both schools on Friday at Eisenwinter Field.

“We started out really flat in the first half,” NIC coach Dan Hogan said. “We really didn’t get energized until the second half.”

NIC (1-2-2) hosts Blue Mountain today at noon.

Treasure Valley is 2-3.

COEUR d’ALENE — Mac Stultz scored on an assist from Noah Dreves in the 49th minute as the Cardinals played to a draw with the Chukars in the East Region opener for both schools at Eisenwinter Field.

NIC (0-4-1) hosts Blue Mountain today at 2:15 p.m.

Cardinals go unbeaten on first day in Spokane

SPOKANE — The North Idaho College volleyball team opened the Community Colleges of Spokane tournament with three wins on Friday at Spokane Community College, beating Blue Mountain, Highline and Linn-Benton to advance to today’s championship bracket at Spokane Falls Community College.

“I’m very proud of the girls and how well they played today,” NIC coach Kelsey Stanley said. “Each girl did their job and contributed to the team. It’s nice to see the progress that they have made in practice the last couple of weeks carry over on the court today.”

NIC scores against Blue Mountain were 25-27, 25-21, 26-24, 25-21. Against Highline 25-20, 25-15, 25-19 and Linn-Benton 25-23, 25-21, 24-26, 25-17.

NIC faces Edmonds today in the championship bracket at 10 a.m. at Spokane Falls.
