HAYDEN — Nominations for Hayden’s distinguished military veteran are due Wednesday, Oct. 3.

The city of Hayden’s Veterans Commission annually honors a local distinguished military veteran at the Hayden Veterans Day Ceremony, which takes place this year on Monday, Nov. 12. The chosen veteran will also be honored at next summer’s Military Appreciation Parade during Hayden Days on Saturday, July 27, 2019.

“The chosen veteran will be the individual who best epitomizes the spirit of ‘Duty, Honor, Country’ both during his or her tour of military service and in continued service to the Hayden community,” said director of recreation and community events Suzanne Cano. The honor is open to veterans from any branch of the military and any rank. Only honorably discharged veterans with no felony convictions are eligible.

To nominate a veteran, submit a 1-2 page biography describing the veteran’s military experience and service to the local community. Send completed nomination to the city of Hayden Veterans Commission, ATTN: Distinguished Veteran Committee, 8930 North Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835.
