Ruben Ellerd

On Saturday, Sept. 1st, 2018, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho lost one of the most dedicated and compassionate souls.

Our beloved Ruben Ellerd passed away Saturday in his home. Ruben was born on Nov. 22, 1941, in Modesto, Calif. Ruben was the only son and had three sisters. Ruben’s first job was working at a cannery in Riverbank, Calif. He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1991 with his wife, Sandy Howe.

Ruben and his wife, Sandy, of 27 years, have passionately cared for Coeur d’Alene and have never asked for anything in return.

Those who know them see their love and joy resonate in their everyday lives and selfless service for those in our beautiful town.

We are all heartbroken to have lost his radiant smile and daily laughter. He lit up every room with his barbershop quartet singing and deep heartfelt love for Coeur d’Alene. He was the most selfless man we have ever known.

His funeral will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church Of Coeur d’Alene, 521 E. Lakeside Ave. in Coeur d’Alene.
