INDIVIDUAL: Just be you

| September 7, 2018 1:00 AM

The greatest influencing factor that impedes many in the workforce to overcome obstacles is the belief that their human worth and their marketplace value coexist.

They don’t. At all. Period.

Geoffrey Owens stands as a testament to true individuality, secured confidence and humility. Amidst the recent cacophony of job shaming tweets of him working at Trader Joe’s, he continues to apply his talents where marketplace opportunities arise.

Geoffrey understands that his worth as a human being is not defined by the monetary value he brings to the marketplace.

Geoffrey inspires me, “just” a server, to continue to work hard no matter the job. Geoffrey actually adds value to his job by maintaining his humble character and trafficking himself in contentment and joy.

Your human worth is invaluable and cannot be priced or gauged.

Those who define their human worth by the value they hold in the current marketplace will always find themselves dissatisfied and discontent.

We must know that our self-worth is never tied to our net worth.

Thank you, Geoffrey, for standing tall and proud! You inspire many of us to continue to do the good work.
