Indians beat Vancouver, move into first in North

SPOKANE — Jake Latz struck out 11 over 5 2/3 innings for the Spokane Indians in a 6-0 win over the Vancouver Canadians in front of 5,059 at Avista Stadium on Saturday night.

With the win, Spokane (37-27, 21-15 second half) regains the North Division lead by one game over Vancouver (39-35, 20-16) with two games remaining. Spokane can clinch the second half title with a win today against Vancouver. Everett won the first half championship.

Starling Joseph hit his 11th home run of the season, a two-run shot in the sixth inning, to cap the scoring for Spokane.

Jax Biggers and Julio Pablo Martinez had two RBIs each in the win.

The second game of the three-game series is today at 3:30.
