Fill the Boot to fight muscular dystrophy

| September 1, 2018 1:00 AM

SPIRIT LAKE — It’s time to Fill the Boot to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association in the fight against muscle-debilitating diseases. Firefighters from Spirit Lake Fire Protection L4336 will collect funds on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Miller’s Harvest Foods and at the intersection of Main Street and Hwy. 41.

In addition to funding research, contributions go to life-enhancing programs such as the MDA Care Center at St. Luke’s Rehabilitation in Spokane, and MDA summer camp. The International Association of Fire Fighters began fundraising to find a cure for muscular dystrophy in 1954, and has raised more than $630 million to date, said an MDA spokesman.
