'Odd Couples' coming

| October 30, 2018 1:00 AM

The popular play that spawned a successful movie and TV series is coming to Coeur d’Alene, with a twist.

Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy students will perform two versions of Neil Simon’s “The Odd Couple” in November.

Inspired by the real-world experiences of Simon’s brother, this play follows two mismatched roommates: the neurotic, uptight neatfreak Felix Ungar and the sloppy, easygoing Oscar Madison. In 1985, Simon rewrote the play to feature a pair of equally mismatched female roommates, Florence Ungar and Olive Madison.

There will be two performances by separate casts: one of Simon’s female version of the play, and one of the male version.

Charter Academy seniors Isabel Bartosh and Grace Moehring will star as Olive and Florence in the female show Nov. 1-3. The male cast will perform Nov. 8-10, with Carson Benzinger and Jacob Unruh in the roles of Oscar and Felix.

All performances begin at 7 p.m.

Performances will be held at Charter Academy High School MPR, 4904 N. Duncan Drive. Tickets are $10 general admission and $5 for students.
