NIC men win NWAC league golf tournament

MUKILTEO, Wash. — North Idaho College’s men’s golf team won the two-day Bellevue NWAC League Match at Harbor Pointe Golf Club to finish their fall season on a high note.
Coach Russell Grove said the first Northwest Athletic Conference league match of the 2018-19 season was close coming down the stretch, but Nick Roberts’ tap-in birdie on the par-3 third hole and Jesse Henderson’s clutch up-and-down par on the second hole sealed the Cardinals’ victory.
NIC’s second-round team total of 299 allowed the Cardinals to edge Spokane, 600 to 602, for the team trophy.
Freshman Tyler Jones and Dawson Strobel led the way for NIC, finishing in second and third place respectively. Sophomore Jesse Henderson (seventh) and Freshman Bo Knittel (tied for eighth) also had top 10 finishes.
- NIC’s women’s golf team took fourth in the event, shooting a team score of 530 to finish behind Southwest Oregon, Bellevue and Skagit Valley. Caitlyn Fisher recorded a top-10 finish for the Cardinals, shooting a 90 and 85 for a ninth-place total of 175.

NIC Booster Club Luncheon to honor women’s soccer team
COEUR d’ALENE — The North Idaho College Athletics Department will honor the NIC women’s soccer team at the NIC Booster Club Luncheon at noon today, Oct. 30, at The Coeur d’Alene Resort.
The NIC women’s soccer team qualified for the NWAC playoffs after narrowly missing out on winning the NWAC East Region title last week. The Lady Cardinals will host Portland Community College in the first round of the NWAC Playoffs at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at NIC’s Eisenwinter Field.
The NIC winter head coaches will also speak and provide a preview of the upcoming NWAC and NJCAA conference schedules for basketball and wrestling. A special NIC Booster Club lunch menu will be provided.
