MILESTONE BIRTHDAY

Don Berry

100th Birthday

On Monday, Oct. 29, 1918, Don Berry was born. As he reaches his 100th year, his family wants to wish him the very best birthday ever.

Don Berry was born in Brooks, Minn., and grew to marry and raise three children, Cathy, Peggy and Michael. Don lived most of his married life and raised his family in Southern California. He recently moved to Coeur d’Alene to spend his remaining days with his daughter, Peggy Decker. He has been the best dad ever and a wonderful husband.

The family wants to honor him with this celebration of his 100th year and thank him for all his wonderful acts toward mankind, his family and his friends.

BIRTH

Lily Abigail Maddox was born at 9:29 p.m. Sept. 13, 2018, at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene to Anna (Lacy) and Aaron Maddox of Post Falls. She weighed 6 pounds 14 ounces. Siblings are Sophia, 10, and Gavin, 8. Maternal grandparents are Deidre Lacy of Springfield, Ore., and Gary Lacy of Post Falls. Paternal grandparents are Doris Sandell of Harrisburg, Ore., and Russell and Candy Maddox of San Antonio, Texas. Great-grandparents are Vivian Fuller of Springfield and Bertha Lacy of Hamilton, Mont.

ANNIVERSARIES

Jerry and Helen Taylor

70th Anniversary

With wedding bells in Winnemucca, Nev., on Oct. 30, 1948, Jerry and Helen Taylor are now celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary.

Jerry and Helen both grew up in the Caldwell area and after their marriage, they settled in the same area. Jerry worked as a farmer and as a carpenter. He worked as a carpenter and later a supervisor for Boise Cascade in Meridian and transferred with his family to their Post Falls plant. Prior to retiring, he was a building contractor in the local area. Helen had a long career as a bookkeeper for an accounting business in Caldwell and for the Gridley’s in Coeur d’Alene.

Jerry and Helen raised two children — a daughter and son.

After retiring, they had the opportunity to travel throughout the Pacific Northwest, East Coast of the U.S. and England. They both continue to enjoy gardening at their home for the last 47 years in Post Falls and the many visits from their family and friends.

Jeremiah and

Marianne Leake

60th Anniversary

Jeremiah and Marianne Leake were married on Oct. 25, 1958, at St. Joseph’s Church in Keyport, N.J. They made a cross-country trip to California and settled in West Los Angeles. Fifty years ago, they moved to Idaho where they now reside.

They are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary with their 10 children, 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren at their cherished home on the Rimrock.

Robert and Bea Harwood

60th Anniversary

Robert “Bob” and Bea Harwood celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married on Oct. 24, 1958, in Coeur d’Alene.

Bea, being very talented, worked as a mechanic and a manager of a service station. Bob was a manager of a department that built new telephone offices and later was transferred to Everette, Wash. After one year of doing nothing, Bea told Bob she was going to work for Boeing. She had no college degree, but surprised Bob when she was hired.

They had two boys, Tom of Oregon and Doug of Spokane.

Bea also made 200-300 quilts over time, which she always gave one to everybody she could think of.

Bea’s favorite thing later in life was fishing in Alaska. Bob and Bea would drive there and back. They took that trip six times, and would go in June and come back in August with lots of salmon.

Bob says Bea is a “very sincere and loving woman.”

ENGAGEMENT

Kinzer-Browning

On Aug. 18, 2018, William Fred Browning asked for Ashley Nichole Kinzer’s hand. Having already asked Michael, Ashley’s dad, Will was excited to pop the question.

He waited to do so until they were out on a romantic dinner date in Seattle on Alki Beach. The sun was setting and the timing was perfect. Ashley said, “I am ready to go find some ice cream.” William used his whits to ask his question, so he said, “We will only go on one condition (he got down on one knee). Will you marry me?”

The two have set the wedding date for Oct. 5, 2019.
