Former Coeur d’Alene

runner Middleton wins

women’s Canadian Marathon

TORONTO — In her first try at a marathon, former Coeur d’Alene High standout Kinsey (Gomez) Middleton won the Canadian Marathon Championships in 2 hours, 32 minutes, 9 seconds.

Middleton, who went on to run at Oregon State and at Idaho, and now resides in Guelph, Ontario, told Canadian Running the hardest part of the race, for her, was the last 500 meters.

“In the marathon you feel good, and then you don’t feel good, and then you feel good again,” she said. “It’s about realizing that when you don’t feel good it’s not the end — it ebbs and flows.”

Spokane selected for 2019 USA Gymnastics

Women’s Level 9 Western Championships

For the second time in four years, USA Gymnastics has selected Spokane to host the Women’s Level 9 Western Championships.

After successfully hosting this same event in 2015, youth athletes from across the western United States will once again be traveling to Spokane in May 2019.

Approximately 500 gymnasts are expected.

Along with the 2015 Level 9 Western Championships, Spokane also hosted the 2014 USA Gymnastics Elite Challenge in Trampoline and Tumbling.

Anderson-Dolan

reassigned to Chiefs

Spokane Chiefs forward Jaret Anderson-Dolan has been reassigned by the Los Angeles Kings and will return to the Western Hockey League, as announced by the Kings.

He is expected to rejoin the team this week and be in the lineup on Friday night as Spokane hosts Portland at Spokane Arena.

Anderson-Dolan, selected by the Kings in the second round (41st overall) of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, played in five NHL games this season. He picked up his first career NHL point with an assist versus Montreal on Oct. 11.

Last season, Anderson-Dolan became the 22nd Chief to score 40 goals, marking the 30th time in franchise history a player has reached the milestone. His 91-point campaign earned a spot on the WHL’s Western Conference First Team All-Stars.
