Fatal shooting in Post Falls

One Post Fall man is dead and another was arrested Saturday following a shooting near Post Falls.

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as 24-year-old Tyler S. Liles.

William C. Carlson, 41, was taken into custody on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter and transported to the Kootenai County jail.

Personnel from the Sheriff’s Office and Kootenai County Fire and Rescue responded around 6:45 p.m. to multiple calls about a shooting on Gallatin Way.

They found Liles with a single gunshot wound.

“Despite life-saving measures from both agencies, the male was pronounced dead at the scene,” said a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

Carlson was detained at the scene and arrested.

Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating.
