COEUR d’ALENE — Local students earned their way onto the select list of National Merit Semifinalists this fall. Six semifinalists — Merrick Bonar, Karson Chrispens, Ben Lambert, Grace Moehring, Dana Nicol, and Noah Reason — hail from Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy’s 62-member senior class. A seventh Charter student, Nathan Ralston, qualified as a National Merit Commended student.

Post Falls High School student Scott T. Callister was also named a Commended Student in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program.

No students from the Coeur d’Alene School District made the cut this year, said district spokesman Scott Maben.

Approximately 16,000 semifinalists nationwide will compete for 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million, said the National Merit Scholarship Corporation in a release.
