HUNTER: An ugly Idahoan

| October 19, 2018 1:00 AM

The slaughtered family of baboons pictured in Tuesday’s, Oct. 16 edition disgusts and sickens me. The complete disregard of primate life by Fischer is shocking, and to find out that he was serving as a commissioner for the Idaho Department of Fish and Game is quite the icing on that vile cake.

I don’t think he should have been allowed to resign; Fischer should have been fired. I wonder what the African nation of Namibia thinks of this Ugly American from Idaho.

Certainly, a photo of this family of living baboons would have made a much better posting.

I was also dismayed to read Fischer was honored as Big Brother of the Year by the Big Brothers and Big Sisters, a group that advocates for youths. I belonged to this group for many years. Hopefully, they rescind this honor and give it to someone else whom really cares about families.

Imagine the hearts of the children turning to the Kid Scoop section of this same issue of the paper to see if their writing of an ad for a perfect gorilla house was printed. These children took great care to think of ways to make gorillas comfortable and happy. I hope not one of these young contributing authors was faced with the photo on page two! I pray they continue to think of ways to better the lives of animals left in the world and not take pride in destroying them as Fischer does.

P.S. Thank you for not printing that photo on page one.
