Dorothy J. Johnson

October 19th was the birthday of Dorothy J. Johnson, who passed away suddenly and peacefully on May 16, 2018, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. A graveside service was held in her hometown of Anaconda, Mont., on Saturday, June 2, 2018, attended by her family and many friends.

Dorothy was born in Anaconda in 1925, to parents Hazel and Robert Stone, as one of nine siblings. She was a long time Coeur d’Alene resident and touched many lives in her 92 years. She married Al (Swede) Johnson of Anaconda and raised three children, Terry, Linda and Diane.

Relocating to Coeur d’Alene in 1968, she worked in the hospitality industry for many years, both at the family motel and at Templin’s Resort in Post Falls, Idaho. Later in life, she volunteered at Kootenai Memorial Hospital for over twenty years.

Dorothy enjoyed working in her home, garden, tending to her dog, Sophie and following her favorite Seattle Mariners and Gonzaga Bulldogs. She dearly loved her children, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She is survived by daughters, Linda (Gene) Hill and Diane (Mark) Cataldo; daughter-In-Law, Sharon Johnson; grandchildren, Randy Johnson, Cara (Darren) Benton, Kevin (Catie) Johnson and Liane Hill; great-grandchildren, Randee Jo, Raegan and Samantha Johnson, Megan and Aiden Benton and Kendra and Kyle Hill; brother, Lester (Laurie) Stone; sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Mickie Stone; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy is missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her son, Terry Johnson; her parents; brothers, Merle, Harold, Robert, Kenneth and Howard Stone; sisters, Rosalie Vanderzwan and Darlene Byford; and son-in-law, Larry Schumacher.
