PRESS: Dogged delivery

| October 17, 2018 1:31 AM

Lucy Cerra has just given me an incentive to move to Leisure Park because she would deliver The Press to my doorstep on a daily basis. We used to get it that way until The Press changed their policy last September. Ever since then, it’s been deposited near the end of the driveway.

When this happened, I said to myself, “Who gets the PAPER paper?” In other words, one delivered to the house, not on the internet. Older people, mostly, is my guess.

So I said well, I’m not going to walk out to the end of the driveway in the snow, sleet, hail, ice and rain. Why? Because FALLING IS THE ENEMY OF OLD AGE. Admittedly, I’m not that old (70), but falling could result in a broken hip or something else, and it would be downhill from there.

As a result, I trained our golden retriever to get it. He works for food. He gets one treat as an incentive and another one when he brings it in the house. I’ve been giving him Organic Wet Noses treats from COSTCO which he LOVES, but it appears they’ve stopped carrying them. So I will have to find something else which will be yet another challenge to overcome in getting The Press safely inside the house.
