Elizabeth Kimball, 89

On Oct. 13, 2018, Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Kimball, 89, of Harrison, Idaho, went to be with Our Lord surrounded by her loving family. Born Sept. 4, 1929, to Ayron and Velma Butler.

She married the love of her life, Samuel R. Kimball on Jan. 7, 1946. During their 57 years of marriage, they created 14 children, which in turn gave them the big family that Betty never had as an only child. Her family was and always has been her greatest joy and source of pride.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam in 2003; infant daughter, Kathy in 1947; son, Noel Kimball in Jan. 2018; son-in-law, Ron Carson; and great-great-grandson, Liam.

She is survived by sons, Kim (Carol) Kimball, Sam (Cheryl) Kimball, Guy Kimball, Brett (Leeann) Kimball, Glenn (Laura) Kimball, Lance (Lisa) Kimball and Ross (Kim) Kimball; daughters, Belinda Carson, Pam (Jim) Smith, Melissa (Lyn) Hollis, Dawn (Calvin) Nolan and Kate (Ken) Woempner; and daughter-in-law, Lauri Kimball- all of North Idaho. She was the grand matriarch of 53 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren, and she was very proud of the “clan” she started.

She met her husband during the USO dances of WWII and married a few short weeks after meeting, with a love that lasted a lifetime. She was a mother first and forever, and her home was always open to the neighborhood kids and friends. She loved the commotion and noise around her and could often be seen sitting back watching with a big smile during a family gathering.

She loved to dance and sing and in her younger years, she told of dancing all night long. She later enjoyed square dancing and line dancing and could be found singing with her incredible voice in the church choir and around the house while she cleaned.

Her stories of shuttling her kids (and grandkids) to sporting events, church functions and camping expeditions told of the love she had of her family.

In 1980, she and Sam moved to their ranch on the east side of Coeur d’Alene Lake, where she will rest forevermore in the family cemetery next to her husband, whom she missed every day after he passed.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, 2018, at Yates Funeral Home Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Schneidmiller House, 2290 W. Prairie Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815, for the compassion and care that was given to her during her last days.
