GOOKIN: For county clerk

Kootenai County is fortunate to have a better choice for County Clerk: Dan Gookin.

Dan is very rational. He focuses on the big picture and finds practical ways to improve public service. Dan is considerate, balances his intellect with empathy, and is a true team player. What a contrast to the present office holder’s withholding information from other elected officials and blocking some citizens who seek data about their government.

Dan Gookin is highly productive; he gets results quickly. He reliably responds or follows through on a timely basis. Dan uses technology effectively. The present clerk is often out of the office, unavailable by phone and regularly prohibits employees from using email communications. This undermines productivity.

Dan’s a leader, a pleasant and decent man who treats everyone with respect. Dan can also be a follower when it’s appropriate to help others empower themselves. He behaves courteously even with those who disagree with him, because Dan always seeks to learn. The present clerk’s emotional over-reactions and frequent blame undermine morale and create an atmosphere of distrust.

Dan Gookin is hardworking, considerate and emotionally stable. He has my vote for Kootenai County Clerk.
